Professor Chad Austin Joins RIT Kosovo as a Fulbright Scholar
RIT Kosovo is proud to welcome Professor Chad Austin, a distinguished Professor of Law at the United States Air Force Academy and Fulbright Scholar, for the Spring 2025 semester.
With expertise in national security law, international humanitarian law, and negotiations, Professor Austin has taught courses such as War Crimes, Genocide & Human Rights and Law for the Air Force Officer. His scholarship focuses on teaching pedagogy and international humanitarian law, and he has presented on legal topics worldwide.
At RIT Kosovo, Professor Austin is teaching Negotiation Skills, while also leading a Leadership course at the Center for University Studies.
Beyond academia, Professor Austin is a Colonel and Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. His military career includes a deployment to Baghdad, Iraq (2008-2009), where he led a Joint Investigative Committee Team to support judicial restoration efforts. For his service, he was awarded the prestigious Bronze Star Medal and recognized as the Air Force Reserve Judge Advocate of the Year.
Professor Austin previously served as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Warsaw (2017-2018), where he taught War Crimes, Genocide, and Human Rights. He has also contributed to international law competitions, including the Jean Pictet International Humanitarian Law Competition and the San Remo International Humanitarian Law Institute.
