RIT Kosovo Faculty Participates in Final SIAHDPC Consortium Meeting and International Health Sciences Conference

RIT Kosovo faculty member Sara Baxley recently participated in the SIAHDPC Consortium's final dissemination event in September 2024. The two-day event marked the culmination of the project’s efforts to integrate digital health services across multiple disciplines and promote sustainable development in higher education.

On the first day of the event, the consortium showcased the project’s key outcomes and sustainability strategies, emphasizing the progress made through cross-disciplinary collaboration:

  • 15+ courses were adapted or newly developed, spanning health sciences, law, accounting, research practices, and writing.
  • Digital competencies were embedded in all courses to foster future-ready professionals.
  • Digital platforms and tools were designed to enhance healthcare services and research practices.
  • Advanced technologies, including robotics, virtual reality (VR), and remote service provision tools, were incorporated into course content.

On the second day, the consortium took part in the 15th International Conference of Health Sciences at Heimerer College. This platform provided a valuable opportunity to present project results to a broader audience of academics and industry professionals.

Sara Baxley of RIT Kosovo collaborated with Marjo Palovaara, PhD, Head of the Nursing Degree Program at Jamk University, to present the Carpe Diem method. This innovative method was used to co-design, pilot, and adapt Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for healthcare professionals. Marjo served as a key expert and trainer throughout the project, while Sara co-created RIT Kosovo’s CPD courses.

The presentations underscored the importance of collaborative course design and the integration of digital tools to improve professional education. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with both local and international experts, fostering connections for future initiatives.

The SIAHDPC Consortium remains committed to promoting sustainable digital education and healthcare services through innovative teaching practices and international collaboration.
