RIT Kosovo Highlights Successful AI and National Security Course as Part of SCSP Partnership

RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) is proud to highlight the successful completion of the National Security Challenges in the Age of AI: Research and Solutions, an innovative course funded through our partnership with the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP) based in the United States. This semester-long course combined academic insights and real-world projects, enabling students to research complex topics at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and national security.

On the final day of class, students presented comprehensive white papers exploring various subjects, including enhancing Kosovo’s border security with AI, employing AI as a cybersecurity tool, improving public procurement with AI, and utilizing open-source intelligence to boost Kosovo’s national security.

This milestone reflects the significant impact of the SCSP grant, which has provided our students with unique educational opportunities and practical experience in the field of AI and national security.

The course was taught by Professor Gent Carrabregu who stated that “The National Security Challenges in the Age of AI: Research and Solutions course offered our students a unique chance to think right at the frontier of contemporary research in national security and artificial intelligence, while at the same time challenging them to bring such research home by applying it to the practical problems facing Kosova’s national security in an age of artificial intelligence.”

Speaking on the importance of the RIT Kosovo partnership with SCSP, Dr. Kamal Shahrabi, President of RIT Kosovo, said, “This partnership underscores our commitment to equipping students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge. The course’s success highlights the impactful opportunities made possible through our collaboration with SCSP, enriching not only our students’ academic and professional development but also empowering them to drive change in the evolving AI and machine learning.” This successful initiative sets the stage for further activities under the SCSP partnership.

“Our partnership with RIT-K fulfills an important part of SCSP’s mission – to increase student awareness about the coming transformative era of AI,” said SCSP President Ylli Bajraktari. “AI will transform all aspects of our lives to include education, and we will need to be ready for this future.”

This activity is supported by the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP) grant under the project “Bridging National Security Challenges and AI-Led Global Initiatives.”
