Streamlining Curricular Development Processes and Establishment of the Task Force for Curricular Development
On May 24, 2022, RIT Kosovo has organized a Workshop discussion with relevant stakeholders as part of the project “Streamlining Curricular Development Processes and Establishment of the Task Force for Curricular Development”, funded by the University Support Grant Program of the U.S. Embassy in Prishtina and administered by KUSA, and implemented by RIT Kosovo (A.U.K).
The workshop gathered 20 participants, representatives of the public and private Universities in Kosovo, representatives of the Industry sector and the representatives of the Ministries, and the representatives of the donor agencies operating in Kosovo. The workshop discussion was led by Dr. Arianit Kurti from Linnaeus University (LNU) in Sweden, Dr. Mike Eastman, and Dr. James Lee from the College of Engineering Technology, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in the USA, in cooperation with the project team Dr. Venera Demukaj and Dr. Mimoza Polloshka.
The activities included the presentation of the findings of the first two workshops, followed by a discussion on how to improve the current situation and what are the ways ahead for aligning the curriculum development with labor market needs in Kosovo, in these two sectors. Ultimately, the set of stakeholders was suggested for each activity and the outcomes of this workshop will serve as the basis for the establishment of the new Task Force on curriculum development. The findings and the recommendations that resulted from the discussion during this workshop will be summarized in a Guidebook of best practices in curricular development, and best practices in collaboration with the private sector to educate youth in line with labor market demands among emerging and promising industries.
This workshop represents one of the project milestones, preceded by the first two workshops: the first workshop was organized with industry representatives on January 6 2022 and the second workshop was organized with the representatives of the Higher Education Institutions in Kosovo on March 25, 2022.
