The Web-Security Research Team from RITK-CIT presented in an Open Lecture in Mother Teresa University, Skopje
On October 16, 2024, Professor Debabrata Samanta, Program Head & Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computing and Information Technologies, RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), Rochester Institute of Technology – RIT Global Campus, Kosovo had the honor of leading an engaging open lecture at Mother Teresa University in Skopje on "AI-based Cybersecurity Essentials: Protecting Ourselves and Our Information." The session delved into crucial topics related to safeguarding digital assets in an increasingly interconnected world.
Alongside Professor Samanta, Erion Vrella and Daorsa Salihu, CIT Student provided an insightful deep dive into cookie-based authentication and its role in browser security. They explained how cookies manage user sessions and preferences while highlighting potential risks like session hijacking and cookie theft. Daorsa emphasized the importance of securing cookies through techniques such as HttpOnly attributes and session timeouts, and also introduced advanced preventive measures like two-factor authentication (2FA).
Drit Dule, CIT Student further enriched the session with a discussion on the network and security services business architecture, providing a comprehensive look into how organizations can fortify their systems against cyber threats.
The lecture was not only informative but highly interactive. The audience—our colleagues in Skopje—actively participated, asking insightful questions and sparking discussions throughout. The energy and enthusiasm in the room made this one of the most engaging and dynamic sessions we've ever facilitated, underscoring the relevance of cybersecurity in today’s digital landscape.
This inspiring exchange of knowledge left a lasting impact, and we look forward to continuing such collaborations in the future.
