Bio
Ms. Brenda Goldberg is a distinguished linguist with an extensive academic background, holding degrees in Modern Languages and Culture, American and British Literature, Education, Business Administration, and Communication from Leiden University (Netherlands) and the University of Cambridge (England).
Before joining the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Kosovo, Ms. Goldberg gained international experience living, studying, and working across a diverse range of countries, including France, Vietnam, Argentina, Guatemala, Yemen, Costa Rica, South Africa, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, and currently, Kosovo. At RIT Kosovo, she serves as an Adjunct Lecturer, specializing in Introduction to Academic English and RIT Connections.
Ms. Goldberg's professional career encompasses extensive teaching and tutoring in modern languages and literature, including English, Spanish, German, Dutch, and French, catering to advanced placement students. Additionally, she has provided consultancy services to various organizations and embassies on both local and international levels. Her recent research focuses on enhancing the autonomy and motivation of teenagers and young adults.
Prior to her role at RIT Kosovo, Ms. Goldberg worked as a Sustainability Coordinator at the American School of The Hague (Netherlands). In this role, she launched student-led research-oriented projects with a focus on social responsibility, developed sustainability curriculum links, and identified opportunities for environmental improvements on campus. She organized an international student-led conference on sustainability, featuring representatives from local start-ups, multinational corporations such as IKEA, Shell, Heineken, and the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ms. Goldberg also chaired the ECO-committee, facilitated student-led environmental research, managed the Green Award re-accreditation process, and conducted a comprehensive sustainability audit.
During her occupation as Creativity, Action, Service Learning (CAS) Coordinator and Digital Citizenship Instructor at the American International School of Johannesburg (South Africa), Ms. Goldberg taught seniors responsible and safe digital behavior. She enhanced the CAS curriculum by engaging students in real-world situations and reflecting on the ethical implications of their actions. In the Student Learning Center, she supported students with special educational needs in language and literature. Additionally, she designed and implemented the interactive Skills4Studying program, tailored to student needs and effective habits, to improve academic achievement and personal growth among adolescents.
