Student entrepreneurs need votes to advance in national startup competition
RIT student Jake Downie has been “all in” for the past few years when working to advance JDocs, a startup he created with fellow computer science student Artem Goncharov. And now, a JDocs product, FlexFile, is making waves in the legal industry. Last week, FlexFile became a semifinalist to compete in ABA Techshow’s Startup Alley competition.

Metaproject 13 heads to New York City Design Week 2023
Students who took part in Metaproject 13 will have their designs showcased as part of the 2023 New York City Design Week courtesy of their client, Lazzoni. In the fall, students spent the semester working to design seating solutions for the alumnus-owned international furniture company. All of the designs presented will be prototyped by Lazzoni, a first in Metaproject’s history.

RIT students use innovative design through Studio930 to enhance lives
RIT students participated in this summer’s Studio930 design consultancy, an interdisciplinary studio that focuses on the development of assistive healthcare solutions by leveraging the use of technology, art, and design. The 10-week long summer experience concluded with a student exhibition inside RIT’s LiveAbility Lab, a close partnership between RIT and the Al Sigl Community of Agencies.

Funniest person in Rochester? RIT has a contender
Gabby Garcia, a fourth-year industrial design student, is one of six finalists in the 2022 Funniest Person in Rochester (FPIR) Contest presented by Comedy @ the Carlson. The annual competition is open to any Rochester-area comedians, and winners are determined through audience votes and a panel of judges.
