RIT Croatia and A1 Hrvatska signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Zagreb campus and announced the first project: RIT students from the Croatian and American campuses will develop a software solution for monitoring air pollution.

Katboocha, owned by Katarina Schwarz; The Groom Room Men’s Spa and Lounge, owned by Monique Chatman-Jackson; Munchie’s Roc City Empanadas, owned by Luis Carasquillo; and Pointii, an online incentive program for educators and students, owned by Lawrence Forte, were the winners of the inaugural CUE Business Pitch competition.

RIT researchers are heading to London in November to share four of their top cybersecurity research projects at an Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) conference. The RIT research varies from studying new machine-learning cyberattacks to an analysis of Security Operations Center issues.

Research is underway at RIT to create an app that will serve as a resource to help young mothers answer questions about raising a child, connect them with programs and resources, as well as foster a virtual parenting community.

SOIS launched the inaugural Napier Leadership Experience with a day-long leadership retreat during which Sharon D. Napier ’04 MS (service leadership and innovation), chair and founder of Partners + Napier, delivered an interactive presentation to the students to show them how to own their personal brands.

Before his talk Saturday to thousands as the RIT Student Government distinguished speaker, journalist Anderson Cooper met with members of Student Government to answer their questions about his life experience, his work and the state of government in the United States and the world.

John Everett “Fud” Benson, a master stone carver, calligrapher and type designer, is the 2019 recipient of the Frederic W. Goudy Award for Excellence in Typography, given to an outstanding practitioner in type design and related fields. Presented by the Cary Graphic Arts Collection, the award is dedicated to the continued progress of the printing field in the spirit of the great printers of the past.

Researchers from RIT and six other universities are teaming up to build synthetic neurons and a programmable network of such neurons in an effort to better understand the rules of life. The project is part of the National Science Foundation’s “Big Ideas” initiative— 10 bold, long-term research and process ideas that identify areas for future investment at the frontiers of science and engineering.
