The School for American Crafts held its 15th annual Pumpkin Patch Sale Oct. 12. Sales from the one-of-a-kind glass art help support RIT Women's Council Scholarships and student activities in the RIT Student Glass Program.

OUTspoken and the Q Center sponsored a Pride Parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11.

Associate Curator Amelia Hugill-Fontanel ’02 MS (printing technology), assisted Adrianna Petrus, a graduate student in visual communication design from Lyons, N.Y., with a print on the historic Kelmscott/Goudy printing press. The Cary Graphic Arts Collection celebrated 50 years with an exhibit, reception and a commemorative printing on the Kelmscott/Goudy printing press.

RIT graduate student Marissa Dreibelis paints a cat design on 10-year-old Antasia McFee during a community outreach event at the Avenue D Recreation Center in Rochester. Students from RIT's Master of Science for Teachers - Visual Arts All Grades (Art Education) program work with Rochester city children and their families during a fall "Community Art Bash." The annual outreach project is a collaboration between the School of Art in RIT's College of Art and Design, MST Program, Joseph Avenue Arts and Culture Alliance, and the City of Rochester's Recreation Bureau. The outreach is geared toward children and families from Rochester's underserved Northeast Quadrant.

RIT was recently given a gift of $1.3 million to solidify the partnership between the university and museum to allow students and faculty to conduct research and collaborate on projects. 

RIT students, faculty and staff gathered for a Gray Matter discussion "Does God Hate Queers?" in the MOSAIC Center. Gray Matter is a discussion series designed to promote critical exploration of provocative topics related to higher education and the RIT campus community. The next meeting, "Vote? Impeach? Neither?", is Nov. 1 at 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. in the MOSAIC Center.

Soumya Dayal, a second-year computer science student from India, paints a henna tattoo on first-year graphic design student Madison Thompson's hand. RIT OASIS promoted their event Dandiya, a celebration of Indian culture and dance, in the Student Alumni Union. Dandiya is Oct. 5 6:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. in Clark Gym.

RIT alumni Brian Jaworski ’18 (manufacturing and mechanical systems integration) and Kevin Matthews ‘16 (electrical engineering technology) demonstrated mobile and collaborative robots during Manufacturing Day. The event was hosted by the Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology.

115 students, faculty and staff took a few minutes to do a cheek swab and register for possible bone marrow and stem cell transplants through the Gift of Life organization. The RIT Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), along with RIT Men’s Lacrosse goalie Walker Hare, sponsored the event Oct. 1. Hare was a match and donated bone marrow in Oct. 2018.

Hare was a match and donated bone marrow in October 2018.

RIT GEAR UP and several Rochester City schools celebrated National GEAR UP Week with pep rallies, building enthusiasm for the final year in the college-and-career readiness program administered by RIT's K-12 University Center. Seniors at Monroe High School collected RIT swag to wear to the pep rally.
