Julia Morris, a fourth-year illustration major from Kensington, MD, reads names on an art book installation. Out of the Sky: Remembering 9/11 by artist Werner Pfeiffer is a 5-foot tall reconstruction of the Twin Towers in paper that is on display on the first floor of The Wallace Center for the 15th anniversary of 9/11. The construction, on view until Sept. 23, combines woodblock printed images with names of the victims printed on the upper portions. -

Collin Zelli, a third-year biology major and Army ROTC member, attended the 9/11 Remembrance Vigil on Sept. 11 on the grass knoll in front of the Sentinel statue, on the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. An American flag was planted on the knoll for each of the 2,997 people who died in the attacks. -

Vic Mignogna, who plays Capt. Kirk on the online series Star Trek Continues, visited RIT Sept. 9. The actor, director and executive producer met with film and animation students as a collaboration with the College of Liberal Artsâ performing arts department. He discussed music composition for the film and animation business. -

A new building was installed today near Brown Hall on the south end of campus. The modular building will house 20 faculty offices, two conference rooms and an open space for cubicles. Completion is expected by the end of September. -

RIT womenâs soccer players celebrated Anka Parzychâs (jersey No. 24) goal in a 1-0 win over Mount Saint Mary College in the season opener on Sept. 2 at the Rachel Memorial Classic at Tiger Stadium. The menâs and womenâs soccer teams opened the 2016-2017 season for Tiger athletics. -

MAGIC Center students and staff celebrate the release of Hack, Slash & Backstab, a video game developed and published by MAGIC Spell Studios, on the Xbox and Steam platforms on Aug. 31. RIT is the first university in the country to publish a game on the Xbox platform. The game is now available for purchase worldwide for $4.99 on Xbox, Steam and the digital storefront Humble. -

The RIT Bhakti Yoga club hosted their Janmastami celebration on August 27 in the Skalny Room in the Center for Religious Life. The event included discussion, music, dance and a vegetarian dinner. -

The RIT fencing club teaches sword play and is open to all students. -

School of Individualized Study Director James Hall, left, and RIT Provost Jeremy Haefner officially opened the new SOIS Student Commons in Eastman Hall in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 29. Hall and Haefner commented on the importance of a collaborative space where students could gather and exchange ideas. This is the first dedicated space for SOIS students.
