Job Description:
Part II – Position Objective
Supervises the project engineers to provide broad-based equipment design
expertise
and leadership for projects. Project Engineers are responsible for the
technical integrity
of product, from design concept to final acceptance.

Part III – Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties
1. Supervise employees, providing technical guidance, prioritization, and
management
of resources.
2. Provide leadership to the project engineers and to the company, modeling
values
consistent with Harper’s mission, values and desired culture.
3. Continuously monitor a PEs progress on a job including on schedules and
budgets.
Hold the PE accountable for their progress and routinely provides status
updates to
the Engineering Dept. Manager
4. Provide broad-based design expertise in terms of functionality, cost, and
manufacturability of projects.
5. Verify that designs meet technical specifications and applicable codes
6. Support technology and sales groups during the proposal and inquiry phase
on key
opportunities to review design and budget
7. Ensure technical specification updates are communicated with Applications
Engineering.
8. Utilize design software to:
• Provide design concept & specifications for other members of design staff
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis to optimize design (as
applicable)
9. Select and specify materials and interact with purchasing to modify
materials or
components when necessary.
10. Communicate with other members of the project team and other departments
to
ensure projects are completed within time/budget constraints.
11. Provide necessary guidance, mentoring, and training on Harper-specific
technology
and best practices to transfer knowledge and increase efficiencies.

12. Collaborate with the Technology Group on projects that require in-depth
technical
analyses.
13. Interface and provide assistance to subcontractors and customers.
14. Provide technical expertise and support during customer interactions.
15. For the Engineering aspects of each project, actively manage & drive
overall project
cost, schedule, and quality performance relative to internal metrics &
contractual
requirements.
16. Assist Applications department with engineering studies as need



Requirements:
V – Knowledge, Skills, Education
Knowledge, Skills, Education
1. Strong mechanical skills with BSME or similar required
2. Must be fully proficient with 2D & 3D design tools, such as Autocad and
Inventor.
3. In depth knowledge of classical mechanical engineering design skills
4. Knowledge of FEA/CFD a plus
5. General familiarity with industrial equipment.
6. Experience with project planning and management
7. Must demonstrate good judgment, ability to make decisions and delegate
tasks
effectively.
8. Must be able to travel (both domestic & international)- 15% - 20%
9. Must possess ability to communicate effectively with customer
