Job Description

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position to teach three in-person courses each semester in Deaf Studies/Sign Languages during the academic year 2023–2024 to begin in August 2023. Ability to teach at all levels of ASL and Deaf studies curriculum is preferred but not required, following established curriculum and ACTFL’s guidelines.

Visiting full-time faculty teach 3 courses each semester and are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies. All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and include full benefits.

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching as informed by current practice related to Sign Languages, Deaf Studies, and scholarship in the field. They must hold a minimum of an MA in ASL pedagogy, applied linguistics, Deaf Studies, or a related field; have native ASL or an ASLPI proficiency level four or above; and have two years of ASL teaching experience at the college level as well as an extensive knowledge of the Deaf culture and Deaf community.
