Do you have experience as a Sign Language Interpreter but are looking to do more? We're looking for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter with a background in technology and a heart for the deaf community. The right candidate will have a chance to do something unique - advance your career in cybersecurity while helping us build the next generation of deaf cybersecurity experts. You should have command of ASL and information technology and enjoy learning. You will be responsible to: Interpret/transliterate spoken language using ASL or other manual sign system, and vice versa, to facilitate communication between hearing and deaf/hard of hearing individuals. Work with team members and customers to gain understanding of relevant cybersecurity concepts to better facilitate translation for deaf/hard of hearing individuals. Work effectively in teams with other sign language interpreters. Work with multiple operating systems relevant to our customer environments (Windows, Mac, Linux) and the similarities and differences in network traffic generated in each. Work with basic cybersecurity concepts and terminology such as the CIA triad, industry best practices, risk, vulnerability, threat, attack vectors, encryption, encoding, and various types of threat actors. Maintain certification by completing continuing education units required by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Maintain relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, PenTest, CISSP, etc.) Requirements: COMPETENCIES (Non-physical skills and abilities) Education/Experience/Required Knowledge BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related field. Work experience or relevant industry certification may be substituted for education. Three years of experience as a sign language interpreter using ASL or other sign system used by deaf individuals. Technical signs or specialized vocabulary used in the field of cybersecurity. Deaf culture, local deaf community, and resources for the deaf. Completion of an accredited interpreter training program or equivalent. Specialized equipment for the deaf and hard of hearing (such as TTY/VP). Maintain certification by completing continuing education units required by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Maintain relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, PenTest, CISSP, etc.) Intellectual Skills Judgment Able to formulate opinions based on legal and regulatory guidelines.
