As a Sr. User Experience Designer, you will help guide the design, development, and implementation for products that help deaf and hard of hearing people. As a Sr. User Experience Designer, you will help guide the design, development, and implementation for products that help deaf and hard of hearing people. You must possess a unique blend of creativity and analytical thinking, while being able to focus on big-picture vision.
The Opportunity
As a Sr. UX Designer, you will work on a broad array of projects including creating designs for various digital products and services offered by Sorenson. You should have a strong understanding of clean and intuitive design, possess superior prototyping skills, and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and structure. You will then transform them into beautiful, intuitive, and functional user interfaces. As a Sr. UX Designer, you will collaborate with various teams to define innovative solutions to help meet the product direction. Your goal is in establishing and promoting designs focused on accessibility and usability.
What to expect
- Actively participate in ideation and brainstorming meetings with Product Management and Engineering in cross-team collaborative groups to help visualize engaging ideas and solutions
- Creating high-level designs, along with detailed opportunity boards and storyboards, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design ideas
- Translating stakeholder requirements and user research findings into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive experiences
- Designing complex user interfaces that display necessary information and interactivity by through visual hierarchies and clear design means
- Focusing on user-centered design concepts and promoting a culture of creativity
- Creating interfaces that are not only WCAG-compliant, but also intuitive and usable by all users across the platforms
- Working quickly, efficiently, and iteratively with Agile team(s) to create mockups and specs for Developers
- Collaborating with other designers within the UX team for big picture awareness and ensuring consistent use of design system libraries and patterns
- Partnering with researchers to assist with user research and iterate on designs based on team findings
- Staying up to date with competitor offerings and industry trends
- Enjoying creating products that help the deaf and hard of hearing
- Mentoring other designers
- 3+ years of UX design experience, preferably in designing complex solutions for digital platforms
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates strong visual design and various experiences across digital applications from web to mobile
- Demonstration of user-centric design throughout the entire design process
- Strong visual awareness and understanding of good design principles & practices
- Ability to iterate with Product Management and Engineering teams to bring ideas to visual completion
- Familiarity with Agile methods and processes
- Excitement to collaborate with world class product and development teams
- A self-starter, independent thinker, and curious and creative person with ambition and passion
- Experience and knowledge of best-practice user research methods
- Expertise in standard production tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
- Familiarity with basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript is helpful
- Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and experience of designing accessible products is a must
- Experience within the deaf or hard of hearing communities is a plus
- Remote or hybrid work is an option
- Online digital portfolio is a must
