Job Description | Job Req ID: 112921 Specific Duties & Responsibilities Interpreting/Transliteration Support (70%) Provides sign language/English transliterating for on-demand and regularly scheduled meetings, talks, classes, and other functions. Assignments are a combination of recurring and one-time appointments. There may be occasional travel for conferences and invited talks. Team Supervision & Administrative Coordination (30%) Recruits, hires, supervises, and schedules interpreters as needed for classes, meetings, or university events for the faculty member. Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Graduate-degree-level knowledge of psycholinguistics, linguistics, cognitive science, computer science, or a related field. Level of Independent Decision Making Individual must be able to work independently, under minimal supervision. Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications Current national certification as ASL/English Interpreter. Supervisory Responsibility Supervise other team interpreters. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
