Job Description: Signspaces is seeking a talented and passionate Game Designer and Game Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be someone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Game Design and Development, and possesses a deep understanding of Deaf culture. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential for effective communication and collaboration within our team.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Signspaces team to conceptualize and develop engaging sign language games that cater to the diverse learning needs of our users.
Design game mechanics, user interfaces, and interactive experiences that seamlessly integrate sign language learning into gameplay.
Implement game features and functionalities using relevant game development tools and programming languages.
Conduct user testing and gather feedback to iterate on game designs and enhance user experience. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in game design, accessibility, and ASL education to continuously improve Signspaces' offerings.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Game Design and Development or equivalent field.
- Proficiency in game design principles, mechanics, and user experience design.
- Strong programming skills with experience in game development engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Familiarity with Deaf culture and a deep understanding of the accessibility needs of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a signing environment.
- Creative thinker with a passion for creating innovative solutions to promote sign language education and accessibility.
