Program - Provost Intensive ASL

Provost Summer Intensive American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Experience

This program is coordinated through the Department of American Sign Language and Training Education (ASLTE). The aim of this program is to enhance interactions among D/deaf and hearing members of our RIT Community. Sixteen RIT faculty/staff (who are not employed within the College of NTID and who represent the various academic and non-academic areas of RIT) are selected to participate in this intensive two-week program during the month of June.

The focus of this program is to develop basic American Sign Language skills, receive an introduction to Deaf Culture, and to be introduced to the dynamics of d/Deaf and hearing interactions. This course is intended for those with minimal or no ASL skills and no knowledge of Deaf Culture.
