NTID Regional STEM Center and DeafTEC Math and Science Conference
NRSC and DeafTEC
Math and Science Conference
Overview
We are excited to host our first-ever Math and Science Conference this year. In the past, math-only conferences have been hosted by DeafTEC, but this year, we are incorporating science topics into this conference. The aim of the Math and Science Conference is to bring together teachers of deaf and hard-of-hearing students from middle school to community college to collaborate on a variety of math and science topics.
This conference, brought to you by Rochester Institute of Technology’s NTID Regional STEM Center and DeafTEC, will be held at NTID on October 28-30, 2024.
There is no cost to attend this conference, but registration is required.
Sign language interpreters and CART services will be provided for all workshop sessions. Please make note of any other accommodations needed when registering.
Visit the DeafTEC website to view presentations from previous Math Conferences.

Conference Sponsors
NTID Regional STEM Center
The NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) promotes training and participation for deaf and hard of hearing middle and high school students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
NTID established its first NRSC in the southeast in November 2016 in partnership with the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB), to expand the geographic reach of activities and services supported by NTID, with the goal of improving access to postsecondary STEM education and employment for deaf and hard of hearing students. Partnerships are also established in Washington, Utah, and New York City. The center's activities focus on:
- Preparing postsecondary students to be successful in STEM
- Providing professional development for middle and high school teachers
- Developing relationships with business and industry to promote employment opportunities

DeafTEC
The 2024 National Math and Science Conference is sponsored in part by DeafTEC.
DeafTEC is a Technological Education Center for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. It is a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education Resource Center (award #1902474) which serves as a resource for high schools and community colleges that educate deaf and hard-of-hearing students in STEM-related programs and for employers hiring deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
DeafTEC’s goal is to increase the number of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in highly skilled technician jobs in which there continues to be underrepresentation and underutilization of such individuals in the workplace.
