Bio
Beth Karbowski (she/her) is a deaf professional whose passion for the accessibility and inclusion of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the workforce manifests in her every action.
As a doctoral student in Global Leadership, Beth is deeply engaged in her dissertation, which focuses on the resources and data on the employment rate of global deaf communities. Her research also explores how multinational companies and organizations can enhance their inclusive practices overseas. This academic pursuit complements her pivotal role with the DeafGROW team, where she assists in establishing two employment centers in the Philippines and Vi?t Nam. Beth's role involves expanding the coordination of the NTID's model: 'Working Together: Deaf and Hearing People' training to encourage global workforce inclusion. She travels internationally to present job search tips and accessibility strategies to deaf job seekers.
Thanks to her work experience with the NTID Co-op and Career Center (NCCC), Beth traveled nationwide to advocate for workplace inclusion and bridge the gap between hearing and deaf professionals. She also served on the NCCC's marketing committee to develop digital, print, and web marketing strategies and the student programming committee to provide monthly workshops and employers' and alums' presentations for real-world networking practice. Beth worked to advance 90+ deaf and hard-of-hearing students' employment readiness in the creative industry and partnered with employers to foster inclusivity.
Beth's diverse skills and experiences are further highlighted through her role as a public relations specialist for a disability-led organization, serving 100,000+ followers in the Disability Community and creating graphic design internships. She also taught graphic design as a college adjunct instructor. She wrote social media content for a deaf-led organization assisting companies in delivering deaf-friendly services. Her freelance work involved consulting for various organizations, helping them establish their branding and make their marketing accessible to the Disability Community. Beth's expertise in social media marketing earned her recognition as an expert in Out of the Margins, a platform that teaches the fundamentals of nonprofit leadership to help emerging leaders with disabilities.
