Bio
Dee hails from Queens, New York City, and identifies as Queer Peruvian American. She has been working as a staff interpreter at DAS since 2007. She is a proud alumna of RIT with her B.S. in Psychology (2004) and ASL- English Interpretation (2007). Denise is proud of her interpreting portfolio, which includes study abroad trips, performance art interpreting (Theatre, Comedy, Music) She is also a trilingual interpreter (Spanish, English, ASL).
She has participated in several professional development committees and won the Presidential Outstanding Staff Excellence Award as a member of the DAS Diversity Outreach Committee. Denise has won the NTID Student Congress Alice Beardsley's Outstanding Interpreting Award twice in 2018 and 2019. She is currently working as the Lead Preceptor within Randleman and Staff Interpreter at Department of Access Services.
