In 1984, Matthew Moore produced, directed, and hosted “Deaf Magazine,” which aired on an ABC affiliate in Rochester. He founded MSM Productions, Ltd., published “DEAF LIFE” magazine, and launched DEAF.com. He has coordinated national conferences and is involved in film projects through Redbird Pictures. In 2012, he established “Deaf Life Japan” in Tokyo.

His numerous honors include the Davis Scholarship Award (1982), Robert Frisina Scholar Award (1983), NTID Alumni Association’s first Outstanding Alumnus Award (1993), and the Alice Cogswell Award from Gallaudet University (1994). Indiana School for the Deaf dedicated their auditorium in his name in 2012, and he received the Edward Allen Fay Award from the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf in 2022 for his contributions to literacy and deaf education.

Matthew's film production company, Redbird Pictures, has seen success, with his work “TABLE” selected for the 2024 Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and Hollywood Shorts Film Festival. He has served on various boards and community organizations since 1990.

Matthew attended the Indiana School for the Deaf as a preschooler, where he learned American Sign Language and began his theater career as an elf in “Hansel and Gretel.” He was active in media, editing the school newspaper, and served in leadership roles, graduating as valedictorian in 1977.

Continuing his focus on literacy and leadership, he attended RIT/NTID, where he managed the theater department, was a resident advisor, and founded the Student Communication Center, graduating with a B.S. in social work in 1983.

“Since 2015, I have had the privilege of serving on the NTID Foundation Board, and as chair of the NTID Performing Arts Advisory Board, and I have witnessed firsthand the significance of performing arts in the lives of deaf students at RIT/NTID. For the past 50 years, NTID has been a shining example of what can be achieved with the right blend of innovation and dedication.”
