Steven Engel
Steve Engel is a proud parent of Amara Engel, a graduate of RIT/NTID with a bachelor of science in 2022 and a master’s in secondary education in 2024.
Alongside his wife, Karen, Steve has embarked on a philanthropic journey as a founding board member of Hands & Voices of New York and is actively involved with Albany Medical Center’s Parental Family Advisory Council.
Additionally, Steve serves in the Lions as zone chair and second vice president in the local club. At Columbia County ARC, he provides guitar, piano and voice lessons to individuals in their residences and performs several times a month for the day program, finding joy in making music and supporting the organization's mission.
Steve graduated from NYU in 1987 with a bachelor of science in music, business and technology and earned his master’s in music education from NYU in 1989.
Steve’s diverse roles reflect his deep commitment to community service and his passion for enriching the lives of others through both leadership and personal contributions.
“I can think of no other institution where all forms of communication are so readily provided and accepted in order for our students to be successful. Being on the Foundation Board, I hope to further RIT/NTID’s mission to educate the Deaf community across all fields of study. Why wouldn’t we do what we can to help our children and students thrive and succeed?”
