Antony McLetchie
With over 30 years of experience as a classroom teacher, vice principal, and principal, Antony McLetchie serves as the superintendent/CEO at Rochester School for the Deaf in New York. Prior to RSD, he worked as an administrator for Provincial Schools Branch in Ontario, Canada. A Canadian native, later raised in Boston, Antony also held multiple leadership roles with local, regional, and national deaf organizations and represented Canada in tennis during the 1997 Deaflympics.
Antony earned his bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in deaf studies from Gallaudet University. He then received a master’s degree in deaf education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). At Niagara University, he obtained an advanced certification in advanced studies in educational leadership and was recognized as the most outstanding graduate student in the program.
On a personal level, Antony was adopted at age two by an educator who had never met him. Growing up in a signing family surrounded by people who always gave back to the community, he quickly learned the importance of community investment and support. Today, he continues that through serving on the boards of the Council of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf and the NTID Foundation Board. He is on the advisory boards for the RIT/NTID Master’s in Secondary School Education program, and the National Center for Deaf Health Research at University of Rochester. He is also the proud father to three children.
