Course Description:
This course is designed to familiarize students who want to teach deaf students. The course concentrates on those aspects of medical and cultural views on deafness.
Course goals:
- To understand the development of Deaf students' identity.
- To learn about audiological issues (i.e., Cochlear Implant, audiologists, speech, etc).
- To provide the knowledge and skills needed for teaching basic subjects to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
- To prepare the teachers of the Deaf to work with Deaf and Hard of hearing students.
- To identify key issues and characteristics of the Deaf culture and community.
Activities and Evaluation:
- Assignments uploaded to the dropbox or posted to discussion board or submitted through e-mails
- Quizzes
- Power Point Lectures
Each activity will receive feedback from the instructor.
