Our primary purpose is to optimize students' freedom of communication and language choice by offering instruction to enhance overall communication competency and self-perceptions of competence and control. We recognize that students make decisions about communication in educational, social, and professional situations and that they should therefore participate in multiple levels of decision-making.
We therefore offer an array of services to address students' communication desires and needs and embrace an adult-learner model. Students and instructors operate as partners in the endeavor to improve communication. Students play an active role in all activities, such as identifying goals, setting priorities, selecting activities, and assessing progress. We respect and use each students' preferred mode(s) of communication (spoken English, American Sign Language, or sign-supported speech).
