Overview

Join us on the battlefield at the RIT/NTID Tiger Gaming League, designed for high school students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and absolutely love esports. Each year, a series of electrifying virtual showdowns are hosted across various gaming platforms, leading up to a prestigious national championship right here at RIT/NTID.

Imagine yourself competing solo or as part of a fierce team, battling it out with the best of the best. The top deaf and hard-of-hearing contenders from these virtual clashes will earn their spot at the national competition. During the national competition, participants experience playing in adrenaline-pumping matches in RIT's cutting-edge gaming labs and diving deep into workshops on game development and design.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, all high schoolers who are deaf or hard-of-hearing are invited to join the excitement. Form your dream team of top gamers and jump in the action today!

Virtual Competition

The spring 2025 Tiger Gaming League season will feature six virtual competitions leading up to our National competition in May. Each virtual competition offers a thrilling battle featuring different games and modes every night. 

You must be registered with your team and a coach in order to be eligible for any of the virtual competitions. Once registered, you can join us in battle!

National Competition

The National Competition is May 1-4, 2025, on the RIT campus in Rochester, New York. The RIT/NTID Tiger Gaming League team will announce the games and formats for the National Competition after the 2024 virtual competitions conclude. 

Competitors who are invited to the National Competition will be able to explore the RIT/NTID campus during their stay. There will be an opportunity for gamers to visit the MAGIC Center and RIT esports gaming lab. You’ll also have a chance to attend a workshop on game development and design and learn about the various game majors that RIT/NTID offers. 

The schedule for the 2025 National competition will be available after the conclusion of our virtual competitions.

Prizes

The top three individual winners of the National competition will receive the following prizes:

1st place - iPad Mini
2nd place - Razer Blackwidow V4x keyboard and mouse
3rd place - $100 Gift Card

The top three team winners of the National Competition will receive the following cash prizes: 

1st place - $1,500
2nd place - $1,000
3rd place - $500

The Tiger Gaming League team will nominate an individual player who showcases good sportsmanship throughout the weekend. That player will receive a special prize at the end of the national competition. 

Frequently Asked Questions

To qualify as a competitor, gamers must:

  • Be a deaf or hard-of-hearing student enrolled in grades 9-12.
  • Join or form a team of five gamers and up to two coaches.

Once coaches have been identified and the team has at least three gamers, coaches need to register all participants. Once registered, our Tiger Gaming League staff will contact you with more information and instructions to prepare your team for competition.

There is no cost to register a team and participate in the Tiger Gaming League!

Anyone can become a Tiger Gaming League coach! It is strongly encouraged that coaches be affiliated with the school or district the team is from. Each team may have up to two coaches.

There is no cost for virtual competitions as each team may participate from their home or school. For teams that qualify for the national competition, all expenses are paid for by RIT/NTID. 

Equipment requirements change depending on what game is featured for each virtual competition. Almost all of our competitions will feature games on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation 5.

Registration for our 2025 Tiger Gaming League competitions is now open! In order to participate, gamers must:

  • Be a deaf or hard-of-hearing student enrolled in grades 9-12.
  • Join or form a team of five gamers and up to two coaches. If you are a gamer but do not have a team yet, you can sign up as an individual and our Tiger Gaming League staff will help you join a team.

After you register, you will receive an email from the RIT/NTID Tiger Gaming League with information about our virtual and national competitions. Teams will also receive instructions to join our Discord to stay updated with all competitions.
