Stryker - sponsored project
Home, Health and Aging in Place
This interdisciplinary course is sponsored by Stryker, leading manufacturer in the medical industry, and will focus on healthcare solutions for the home. Healthcare is a critical area in any society and lately there has been a dramatic growth in home-based care provided by friends, family and other non-professional caregivers. Home-based healthcare requires solutions that are simple, effective, and integrated with everyday activities.
As more healthcare is provided in the home and more people are “aging in place”, medical monitoring, connections to clinical experts and preventative treatments will be increasingly important. This project is focused on the identification of new methods for integrating medical technologies in the home.
Students will research emerging care options (products and services) as well as remote medical care technologies and common patient needs. Students will identify unmet or underserved needs and create concepts for product and service solutions that address these needs in a relevant way.
