    RIT named among the nation’s ‘Best 387 Colleges’

    RIT is considered one of the nation’s best universities for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The education-services company features RIT in the just-published 2022 edition of its book The Best 387 Colleges. RIT was also listed fourth in the Top 50 Game Design: Undergraduate category.

    RIT receives Peace Corps Prep designation

    RIT has received the “Peace Corps Prep” designation, enabling its students to take certain classes to better prepare them for service in the Peace Corps upon graduation. RIT is the first university in Western New York to receive the designation, and the fifth in the state.

    A record number of first-year students Wednesday made their way to the Gordon Field House and Activities Center to cheers and welcomes from faculty, staff, and members of the RIT Pep Band during the annual Tiger Walk and New Student Convocation.

    Move-in, orientation await thousands of RIT students

    Thousands of students are expected back on campus next week, as a record number of freshmen move in, begin orientation, and attend New Student Convocation. Roughly 3,260 first-year students are expected – about 1,000 a day will move in starting Sunday through Tuesday. That’s up more than 250 students from last year, which also saw a record number of freshmen.

    Goodbye, Goodbuy! sale returns to RIT

    After a year off due to the pandemic, the popular Goodbye, Goodbuy! sustainability program returns next week at RIT. Items for sale include clothing, furniture, appliances, lamps, bedding, kitchenware, and more. They were collected in May as students moved off campus.

    Meet Lucas Randrianarivelo, RIT Student Government president

    Lucas Randrianarivelo was excited to start college five years ago, but it wasn’t until he became involved in student activities that he felt at home on campus. This year, Randrianarivelo, a fifth-year mechanical engineering major, is RIT Student Government president.

    Construction on RIT’s maker space and performing arts complex at the center of campus enters a new phase this summer, with finished architectural drawings, projects out to bid, and work beginning on the steel frame.

    Athletic facilities undergoing a facelift

    The first phase of the project is the relocation of the outdoor track and an upgraded synthetic running surface. The baseball and softball fields are also under construction with upgrades to all-weather artificial turf fields.
