Africa is rich in natural resources and contains one of the most diverse ecosystems across the globe. The Sahara Desert itself is larger than the continental United States. With all the unique landscapes, wildlife, and growing urban areas, more than 30 RIT faculty have recognized the importance of traveling to the continent, all backed by RIT Global.

When walking into the workplace, one might assume that the staff would be as diverse as the local community it’s in. Chris Wairegi, a cinematographer based in Brooklyn, N.Y., found that this isn’t the case in the film industry.

Spectrum News speaks to Mari Jaye Blanchard, associate professor in the School of Film and Animation, about the talented and collaborative students in the animation program, following the school's recent recognition as one of the top 25 film schools in the U.S.

RIT’s annual Big Shot is returning for its 36th event on Friday, Sept. 20. The Rochester community is invited to shine a light on RIT’s Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHED), the university’s newest facility housing makerspaces, performing arts areas, and high-tech classrooms.

RIT students, faculty, and staff will contribute music, dance, comedy, poetry, photojournalism, and more during the 13th annual Rochester Fringe Festival, which begins Tuesday, Sept. 10, through Sept. 21.

The Exchange plans to build a 400,000-square-foot campus on Governors Island, in the West River, next to the Statue of Liberty. One of the new facilities will be a state-of-the-art building with a serpentine roof that resembles a roller coaster with a solar canopy.
