The Liberal Arts Multidisciplinary Scholars program, which is being introduced this fall, gives financial support to students in STEM majors who are interested in adding a second major from RIT's College of Liberal Arts.

RIT President David Munson welcomed the community for the start of a new academic year with a call to re-energize the campus’s atmosphere to its pre-pandemic level. During his annual President’s Address in Ingle Auditorium this morning, Munson encouraged all RIT faculty, staff, and students to make a new academic year resolution to spend more time face-to-face with one another.

RIT’s Saunders College of Business has broken ground on the multi-million dollar expansion and renovation project at Max Lowenthal Hall. The project, expected to be completed in early 2024.

Beth Buehler, a graduate of Livonia High School, and Cody Rae Ziefel, a Dansville High School graduate, are recipients of this year’s annual E. Philip Saunders Endowed Business Scholarship. The students have been accepted at RIT’s Saunders College of Business, where they will begin classes on Aug. 22.

When RIT’s Computer Science House put out a call for hardware donations last year, Fred Oettinger—an alumnus and staff engineer at Wayfair—got an idea. He knew that Wayfair had just what they needed. Wayfair, one the world’s largest destinations for the home, has gifted RIT’s Computer Science House (CSH) about $850,000 in server equipment.

Increased awards for advancing biomedical technology and economic development initiatives have lifted RIT to another record year of sponsored research funding.

RIT will establish two new endowed professorships in the College of Science thanks to a $2 million donation from Jeffrey Harris ’75 and his partner, Joyce Pratt. RIT matched their donation with $4 million in funding as part of a $20 million challenge to encourage alumni, parents, and friends of the university to support faculty recruitment, retention, and research critical to RIT’s priorities and trajectory.

Local businessman and entrepreneur Bernard Kozel was known for having as much passion for helping others develop their businesses as he did for developing his own. Kozel’s dedication to supporting his partners, employees, and entrepreneurs in creating success is the inspiration behind several gifts to RIT.

Transforming RIT: The Campaign for Greatness, the largest fundraising effort in the university’s history, has surpassed a major milestone. The $1 billion campaign has exceeded the $900 million mark.

RIT alumnus and trustee Brooks Bower ’74 (printing) has made a gift to the multi-use complex under construction that will showcase the university as a place for technology, the arts, and design.

Construction on the Student Hall for Exploration and Development (the SHED) this summer will begin to move beyond the complex to the surrounding area.
