    Study abroad a highlight for hospitality student

    Connor Draughn wanted to get out of his comfort zone and try something new, so the hospitality and tourism management major decided to spend a semester studying at RIT Croatia. Draughn is one example of how students are already benefiting from RIT’s $1 billion blended campaign.

    Shehzil Malik ’14 (visual communication design) is a designer who has extensive experience as an advocate for social change. She believes in gender equality with every fiber of her being and hopes her work can help women around the world realize the power they have as individuals.

    David Rodriguez ’92 is the founder of inverSOL, a client company of Venture Creations business incubator that produces solar generator systems. The company will open a manufacturing and retail facility in Puerto Rico to help those living in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

    Team creates solar-powered 3D printing system

    RIT engineering students and faculty traveled to Cali, Colombia, to deliver and show residents how to use a new solar-powered 3D printing system they developed. The team worked with partners from the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente throughout the spring semester to create the product.

    Dozens of RIT students, faculty and staff left New York City exhausted yet inspired after the university’s most ambitious presence ever at NYCxDESIGN, the Big Apple’s sixth-annual celebration of design. Scores of visitors crowded into RIT’s seven exhibits and events showcased May 16 to 23.

    RIT honored for participation in Gilman Program

    The U.S. Department of State recognized RIT for providing study-abroad opportunities for students with disabilities. RIT was named to the inaugural list of U.S. higher education institutions that sent the most students overseas on the Gilman International Scholarship Program in 2016-2017.
