Anthony and Anna Murray Douglass were Rochesterians and our community continues to celebrate their social contributions. RIT upholds a tradition of social equity by supporting female students with a host of clubs and organizations, as well as community resources, that provide platforms for meaningful discussion centering on feminine social justice.

Ahndraya Parlato named a Fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has awarded Senior Lecturer Ahndraya Parlato a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship. According to the foundation, this year’s fellowships were granted to a “distinguished and diverse group of culture-creators working across 52 disciplines.”

Student team wins first SAE clean snowmobile competition
RIT’s Clean Snowmobile team took first place at the recent SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge. It was the first time since the team began competing more than 10 years ago that the determined group dashed through the snowy terrain of Michigan to take top honors among 13 teams competing in the annual tournament in March.

Genomics lab allows scientists and students to help protect the local ecosystem
Within Brown Hall on RIT’s campus, newly renovated lab spaces house state-of-the-art equipment allowing for essential research. One such space is the genomics lab, where Elle Barnes, assistant professor in the Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, is working to help protect one of the key members of the local ecosystem: salamanders.
