Message from AdvanceRIT
AdvanceRIT is pleased to announce that after conducting an internal search, Dr. Malar Hirudayaraj has been selected as the new AdvanceRIT Director, effective May 15, 2023. An Associate Professor in the Department of Management, Saunders College of Business, Malar, has eight-plus years of instructional experience at RIT.
Malar’s background in Human Resource Development, Organization Development, and Training makes her an ideal candidate to lead programs for faculty. Her research interests and teaching are also relevant to the role. She studies women in organizations and teaches Leading Change, Leading Innovation, and Diversity in the Global Workplace at the graduate level. Malar also brings communication, programmatic, and leadership experience in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors. She has led news, communication, and training teams and designed and delivered employability skills development programs for underprivileged high school and college graduates.
When Malar begins her new role, she will also serve as RIT’s Faculty Associate for Women. Combining these two roles will expand the scope of the Advance office and open up more opportunities to collaborate with organizations interested in advancing women faculty at RIT.
At this time, I would also like to thank Betsy Dell for serving as the leader of AdvanceRIT for the last three years. Betsy’s leadership has been significant, and together with the AdvanceRIT team, their efforts have resulted in policy and practice changes that support women and all faculty at RIT.
