Free workshops for high school students

EXCLUSIVELY FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

During April, RIT Croatia is organizing an IT Student Project Day and a series of free workshops in the fields of marketing, cross-cultural intelligence, AI, and new media, intended exclusively for high school and university students.

The main goal of the workshops is to provide opportunities for interested participants to acquire knowledge, but also, in a very practical way, to bring closer the American way of studying and RIT's undergraduate programs which are carried out on RIT Croatia's campuses in Dubrovnik and Zagreb.

From understanding AI, cross-cultural differences and their impact on the hospitality industry to learning about marketing or how to create your T-shirt design, we have prepared something for everyone. The workshops are conducted by our lecturers.

All workshops are conducted in English.

Note: The educational workshops scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, will be held under the solemnity of the day and will be adjusted to respectfully observe the National Day of Mourning declared following the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.

Exploring Cultural Dimensions Through Role Play: What is Your Cross-Cultural Intelligence Quotient?

Hospitality is inherently a multicultural industry where success depends on your ability to engage and foster meaningful interactions with customers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Learners will role-play a simulated cross-cultural business meeting where they represent individuals from different cultural backgrounds, each influenced by one or more of Hofstede's cultural dimensions (e.g., Power Distance, Individualism vs. Collectivism, Uncertainty Avoidance). The goal is to navigate cultural differences, resolve conflicts, and achieve a shared objective.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand Hofstede’s six cultural dimensions and their impact on behavior in cross-cultural settings.
  2. Develop cultural intelligence (CQ) by identifying and adapting to different cultural norms.
  3. Practice communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in a multicultural context.

Dr. Nina Antičić, Lecturer at the Global Business Management program

Students will acquire theoretical knowledge about marketing strategy and the various tactics through which it is implemented in practice. This newly acquired knowledge will be applied in the development of a comprehensive marketing strategy and plan for an innovative product. Through practical application, students will enhance their ability to analyze market environments, identify target audiences, position a product effectively, and select appropriate promotional and distribution channels. The workshop aims to bridge the gap between strategic marketing theory and real-world implementation, equipping students with marketing mix tools necessary for successful product marketing in dynamic and competitive markets.
