- Incoming Global Scholars program in Dubrovnik
Welcome to Dubrovnik, a truly unique destination that magnificently combines natural beauty of the pristine Adriatic Sea and mountainous Croatian landscape with outstanding architecture and old-world charm.
The stunning city of Dubrovnik with its historic Old Town became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. The gleaming marble streets are lined with baroque buildings and Renaissance fountains and have recently become the setting for the popular television series "Game of Thrones”. The history of Dubrovnik is a fascinating study of the rise of a great maritime power that lived in peace and prosperity for nearly five centuries.
But Dubrovnik is so much more than a fascinating Old Town. It is a first-class destination completed with beautiful pebble beaches, rich cultural offer, and a vibrant nightlife.
RIT Croatia campus in Dubrovnik is located near the Dubrovnik Old Town at the address Don Frana Bulića 6. The campus is home to close to 200 students from across the world and to more than 30 dedicated faculty and staff members.
For program cost and other questions contact RIT Croatia at iocro@rit.edu.
Application Process
Make an appointment with a study abroad advisor at your home campus to go over the required application steps.
Fill out an online Application form if you are a student from Dubai or Kosovo campus.
Students from the Rochester campus should start an application in the Compass and contact Myles Chalue, Study Abroad Advisor at RIT Global at mwciegp@rit.edu to set up an appointment.
Housing and Dining
Furnished apartments, conveniently located near campus and surrounding attractions, will be provided. Each apartment features a kitchen, allowing for meal preparation and easy access to nearby grocery stores for shopping. Local bus service is reliable, easy to use, and affordable, which allows unlimited travel within the region.
Most apartments house two to six students with a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living area. You should anticipate having to share a room; but while an apartment may be co-ed, any individual roommate will be of the same gender. Each room contains a bed with a mattress, linens, towels, dressers, or wardrobe. The living room is furnished with couches and a TV. There is a seating area in the kitchens consisting of chairs and a dining table. Apartments are equipped with a clothes washer, but none of the apartments have clothes dryers (most people dry their clothes on a clothes rack). Wireless Internet access is also provided. Apartments may be a 20-30 minute walk or 5-15 minute of bus ride to campus.
Another housing option in Dubrovnik is a student dormitory, available per request only and depending on the room availability for each semester, where students share a room with another student. All rooms are double, with single beds, work desks, en-suite bathrooms, bedding and linens, wi-fi, small kitchenettes on each floor, a gym, reception open 24/7, and a student restaurant which is serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The student dormitory is seven minutes away from the RIT Croatia campus by bus or 25 minutes of walking.
Dining options for study abroad students and places to buy food include smaller mini-markets, supermarkets, fresh green markets, restaurants, fast foods, deliveries, and many more places. Each student will receive a handbook at the Orientation, containing dining suggestions.

Student Stories
-
I chose Aachen because I wanted to do my ‘demo’ version of living in Germany and trying to improve my German language skills. During my studies, I filled my time enjoying walking in German woods and I was blessed that my dorm was next to one and I went for a walk there almost every day. Not just that I learned about others, I learned about myself and found a new comfort zone which I probably would never found if I didn’t push myself into doing my semester abroad. The overall experience turned out to be better than I thought it would be, and I thought it would be awesome.

Going abroad was an amazing experience that every student should do before they graduate. Not only was I exposed to a different learning environment and education system, I had the opportunity to learn at another university where I was surrounded by different culture, was able to explore the city and meet new people. Studying abroad in Dubrovnik has been one of the best decisions that I've made throughout my higher education. RIT Croatia is a great institution with amazing professors.

I always had a desire to study abroad. Erasmus offered me to do so and as I wanted to improve my German I choose Austria. Along with the language, I had the opportunity to explore different cultures and meet people from all around the world. Austria has a unique education system where the emphasis is on the application of theoretical knowledge into practice. IMC has 147 partner universities worldwide and the experience of the multicultural atmosphere is unbelievable. Finally, Krems an der Donau is a town located about 40 minutes by train from Vienna.

My international study experience was very different from studying at home, but different is good! You grow as a person, get to explore new horizons, and see everything in a new perspectives. The best thing about studying abroad are the people you get to meet, new places you get to see and experience, and different cultures – these are what you will remember forever. You learn to adapt to new ways of studying and living, and different kinds of people.

The Erasmus+ experience was beneficial in every possible way. I have gained knowledge and experience in hospitality finances, I have experienced life in a different culture, I have learned and improved my knowledge of the Spanish language and I met many people and established new friendships. Above all, I had a lot of fun and it has opened new doors in business for me. The Erasmus traineeship was an unforgettable experience through which I have developed my skills and myself generally.
