RIT Croatia Commencement Ceremonies 2024: A Celebration of Achievement and Future Aspirations

RIT Croatia proudly celebrated the accomplishments of its graduating class with commencement ceremonies held on May 17 at the Mozaik Event Center in Zagreb and on May 18 at the Hotel Hilton in Dubrovnik. These events marked the culmination of years of hard work and dedication for the students, who were honored by esteemed family members, faculty, staff, and friends.

The commencement ceremonies were led by a platform party comprised of key leadership members of RIT and RIT Croatia. These included Dr. Irena Guszak, RIT Croatia’s President and Dean; Dr. Milivoj Marković, RIT Croatia’s Associate Dean for Academic Programs; and Dr. Jakob Patekar, RIT Croatia’s Associate Dean for Research and General Education. Representing the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) were Dr. James Watters, RIT Croatia's Board Chair and RIT's Senior Vice President of Finance & Administration, and Dr. Todd Jokl, Dean of RIT’s College of Art and Design. Dr. Todd Jokl had the honor of conferring the degrees at both ceremonies.

In Zagreb, the graduates received inspiring words from Dragan Mrkajić, Group Data & AI Director at Fortenova Group and Board Member at mStart. An alumnus of RIT Croatia, Class of 2004, Mrkajić shared his journey and insights, motivating the graduates to pursue their dreams with determination and resilience. Marta Primorac, the valedictorian from the International Business program, also delivered a heartfelt speech, reflecting on the collective journey of her peers and the bright future ahead.

The Dubrovnik ceremony featured a keynote address by Mato Franković, the Mayor of Dubrovnik and an RIT Croatia alumnus. His words of encouragement resonated deeply with the graduates, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and community contribution. Karmen Kutnjak, Director at the Center for Entrepreneurship Dubrovnik – Neretva region and a 2002 alumna, also addressed the graduates, sharing her professional experiences and offering advice for their future endeavors. Jana Radonjić, the valedictorian from the Hospitality and Tourism Management program, captivated the audience with her reflections on the academic journey and aspirations for the future.

Angela Krčelić, President of the RIT Croatia Alumni Society, delivered a moving speech at both ceremonies, reinforcing the strong bonds within the RIT Croatia community and the ongoing support from the alumni network.

As the graduates embark on their new journeys, they carry with them the knowledge, experiences, and values instilled by RIT Croatia. The entire RIT Croatia community extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2024, wishing them success and fulfillment in their future endeavors.
