A big congratulations to Dušan Gluščević, a Web and Mobile Computing student at RIT Croatia’s Dubrovnik campus, for securing 2nd place at the Game Jam 2025 competition, held in Sutomore, Montenegro, from January 24 to 26, 2025!
Originally from Bar, Dušan has been passionate about game development for the past seven years and has worked professionally as a freelancer for the past three years.
The game that earned him 2nd place at Game Jam 2025 is called "Fairy of the Forgotten Times."
“It is an absolute fever dream of a history lesson, and I mean that in the best way possible. You start as a regular guy cramming for an exam, then boom—you’re in space, chilling with a fairy that serves as your personal, unhinged history professor.
The game throws you headfirst into some of the most unexpected historical moments, from the grim horrors of WWI poison gas warfare to sailing with Montenegrin pirates and even meeting Cervantes—the guy who wrote Don Quixote but also got kidnapped at one point (which is a historical side quest I did not see coming). And just when you think it can't get any wilder, you cross paths with Fritz Haber, the man who both revolutionized agriculture and pioneered chemical warfare—arguably the most morally complicated guest speaker in history class.
One moment you’re witnessing the birth of poison gas on the battlefield, the next you’re questioning whether innovation is always a good thing. What makes this game stand out is how it blends real-world history with a sense of adventure and discovery. One moment you're in the trenches of WWI, and the next, you're navigating pirate-infested caves like Uncharted: AP European History Edition. The mix of storytelling and interactivity keeps you engaged, and there’s real depth here beyond just a cool premise,” enthusiastically explained Dušan.
Alongside his academic commitments and participation in various competitions, Dušan is also currently developing his own video game, "Gorski Vijenac," a project he has been dedicated to for several years.
His fantastic achievement at this competition highlights the growing strength of the game development community in Montenegro and serves as an inspiration for future developers. Way to go, Dušan!
