Success at Dubrovnik Hackathon 2024: RIT Croatia's Team Secures Victory with Bio Scanner App

The Dubrovnik Hackathon 2024 took place on April 20th and 21st at the Dubrovnik Youth Center, organized by the Dubrovnik Development Agency DURA and the Technical Culture Association of the City of Dubrovnik, in partnership with RIT Croatia and the University of Dubrovnik.

We are proud to announce that first place was awarded to Igor Mišić and Dušan Gluščević (Team RIT 1), RIT Croatia students from the Web and Mobile Computing program in Dubrovnik,  who developed the project called "Bio Scanner", an application for detecting diseases in plants, and received a prize of 1.500 euros for the entire team.

A total of five teams worked on ICT solutions in the field of smart cities for this competition, and their solutions were presented to the jury members: Tomo Sjekavica, Stjepan Čavar, Ivan Grbavac, and Dr. Domagoj Tolić, who decided on the winners.

The hackathon aimed to spread knowledge, and to motivate developers and other citizens to use smart city technology to solve everyday problems. The organizers' goal was to educate and identify talents, connect them with experts and mentors, and enable them to jointly develop projects that use technology to address real urban issues.

Besides the winning team, WMC students Balša Bazović and Karlo Skokić, also participated in this year's Hackathon.

Congratulations to the winning team and kudos to all who participated in this great opportunity to showcase creativity combined with technological skills!
