At RIT Kosovo, our academic advising process is all about you. We want to get to know you and your interests. What are your career goals? What do you want out of your education? Through consistent interactions, advisors build strong relationships with students. We believe academic advising is driven by students. RIT Kosovo academic advising is a continuous, proactive process where advisors and students partner to review each student's individualized curriculum goals and build connections and networking opportunities with RIT Kosovo faculty, staff, and the rest of RIT community.

Advising Team

Academic Advisors provide personalized advising, helping students make informed decisions regarding course selection, degree requirements, and academic goals. The Academic Advising Team utilizes a student-centered approach that enriches learning and facilitates student development in preparation for success within a diverse society. Our role as an RIT Kosovo advisor is to act as a mentor and advocate for you, as well as, help you make connections with RIT Kosovo faculty, review experiential learning opportunities, such as engagement with RIT community, and most importantly, successfully complete your degree requirements. To that end, we are committed to responding to you in a timely and effective manner.

As the student, you are responsible for knowing your degree requirements and being engaged in your educational journey through RIT Kosovo. Academic Advice Frequently Asked Questions

Your academic advisor assignments are in SIS.

  • Log in to SIS
  • Click on the “Advisors” tile to view your academic advisor

The best way to contact your advisor is through Starfish or email.

To schedule a meeting with your advisor:

  1. Login to your SIS or myCourses and click the “starfish” icon.
  2. Click on the “Schedule Appointment” link under your advisors name
  3. Sign up for an available time that works for you

To email your advisor:

  1. Find your Advisor on SIS
  2. Email your advisor at either sbislimi@auk.org or dlulaj@auk.org or igashi@auk.org
  • Please fill out the form here:
  • When the Letter of Confirmation is ready for pick up you will receive an email
  • Letters of Confirmation are generally issued within 24hrs
  • Log in to SIS
  • Click on the “Academic Records” tile
  • Click on “View Unofficial Transcript”

For current students:

  • Log in to Parchment with the RIT account and follow instructions.

For alumni:

  • Log in to Parchment to create an account with a personal and follow instructions.
  • RIT Kosovo email (@auk.org) is the primary tool your advisor will use to contact you.
  • RIT mail (@rit.edu) is the secondary tool your advisor will use to contact you.
  • Check your RIT Kosovo email at least once per day. If you use other email accounts, forward your other email to your RIT Kosovo email account.
  • It is also important to update your other contact and emergency contact information in SIS
  • Students must find a class with available seats on SIS. For clarification and assistance on deciding for a class, please schedule an appointment with your advisor (preferably in advance).
  • Advisors typically respond to emails within 48 business hours. Emergency requests will be considered with priority.

  1. Login to your SIS or myCourses and click the “starfish” icon 
  2. Click on the “Schedule Appointment” link under your advisors name
  3. Sign up for an available time that works for you

Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor on a regular basis, when there are questions or if academic interests change. The advisors are an important resource for you as you progress through your RIT Kosovo experience. Advising is required for new first-year and transfer students. However, all students are highly encouraged to meet with their academic advisor each semester.

  • First-year students are required to meet with their advisor in the Fall and Spring semester of their First year.
  • Incoming transfer students are required to meet with their advisor in their first semester at RIT Kosovo.

Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor before declaring Sub-plans.

  • For a complete list of RIT Kosovo Sub-plans go to: Sub Plans
  • Once you have met with your advisor, complete the Sub-Plan Declaration form and follow instruction on how to fill the form.
  • Schedule an appointment with your Advisor and obtain their signature.
  • Submit the signed Sub-Plan Declaration form to your academic advisor.

Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor before declaring a minor.

  • Once you have met with your advisor, complete the Minor Authorization form and follow the instructions on how to fill out the form.
  • Schedule an appointment with your Advisor and obtain their signature.
  • Submit the signed Minor Authorization form to your academic advisor.

Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor before declaring an immersion.

  • Log in to SIS
  • Click on the “Academic Records” tile
  • Click on “Declare/Change Immersion”
  • Select preferred Immersion on the drop down menu
  • Click Submit
  • Log in to SIS
  • Click on the “Tasks” tile then “Holds” to view any Financial, Academic or Admissions holds
  • For Academic holds contact your Academic Advisor
  • For Financial holds contact the Finance Office at finance@auk.org
  • For Admissions holds contact your Admissions Advisor
  • Please contact your primary Academic Advisor
  • Complete Transfer Credit Articulation Request, attach required course documentation and submit to academicaffairs@auk.org.
  • All forms must be submitted electronically via this email address by the student making the request.
  • Make the payment of €40 per credit (i.e. €120 for a 3 US credit course) processing fee at the Finance Office and send payment proof to academicaffairs@auk.org in addition to the above mentioned documentation.
  • After review with the appropriate RIT academic department, the Academic Affairs Office will email you and your academic advisor with the articulation determined. This process takes up to four weeks. Please note that if applying late, there is no guarantee for timely evaluation.
  • Complete the course and have the final official transcript sent to Academic Affairs Office. The transfer of the course takes up to six months from the day RIT Kosovo received the official transcript. Late submission of the transcript may result in delay of graduation.
  • This process excludes students that have been selected to participate in any of the exchange programs approved by RIT Kosovo (A.U.K).

Students should contact RIT ITS services using one of the following options:

  • New self-service portal – The new self-service portal at help.rit.edu allows you to see your existing ITS support requests, search for how-to knowledge articles, and create new tickets.
  • Live online chat - Chat online through help.rit.edu with Service Desk staff during regular business hours.

 RIT is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). MSCHE accredits institutions that “meet rigorous and comprehensive standards, which are addressed in the context of the mission of each institution and within the culture of ethical practices and institutional integrity expected of accredit institutions.” Click here for RIT's accreditation page on the MSCHE website.

In addition, international RIT campuses/additional locations are also accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) as an institution is therefore accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.  “The American University in Kosovo, Gërmia Campus, Kosovo,” is listed on the Middle States Commission of Higher Education, Statement of Accreditation Status, under “Instructional Locations” as an “Additional Location” and is “Full Approved” and accredited. The full report can be found here by selecting “Statement of Accreditation Status” in the lower right-hand corner. All credit-bearing courses and programs at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) are provided by RIT.
RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) is also accredited by the Kosovo Accreditation Agency. The institutional-wide accreditation is valid through September 2025 and can be found by clicking at the following link: here
Besides institutional accreditation, each RIT Kosovo (A.U.K.) degree program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE).
Moreover, in Kosovo, RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) is licensed by the Kosovo Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) as a Higher Education Institution.
