    The Dyer Arts Center hosts two Rochester artists, Carol Douglas and Stu Chait, in “Intersections: Form, Space, Time & Color.” The exhibit runs through July 30, with an opening reception from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11.

    Sandy Johnson assumed the post of senior vice president for student affairs on July 1. Johnson comes to RIT having served for nearly eight years as vice president for the Division of Student Affairs at Hofstra University. At home, she is currently in “unpacking mode,” having recently moved to the Rochester area with her family. Johnson had a chance to meet a few RIT students who were on campus this week.     Jacqueline Mozrall assumes the post of interim dean at Saunders College of Business on July 1. Mozrall is an RIT alumna who is taking a leave from her post as professor and senior associate dean of RIT’s Kate Gleason College of Engineering to lead the business college while a national search for a new dean is underway.

    Sixty-seven students graduated from RIT Croatia during a ceremony in Dubrovnik on May 31. RIT Croatia is the only educational institution in Croatia granting two diplomas—a Croatian degree and an American degree from RIT. RIT Croatia’s enrollment is 578 students across two campuses; 298 students in Zagreb and 280 in Dubrovnik. The Dubrovnik campus offers undergraduate degrees in international hospitality and service management, as well as information technology. The Zagreb campus offers undergraduate degrees in information technology and international business and a graduate degree in service leadership and innovation targeting working professionals.

    Malinda Kay focused on a career in museum studies in the College of Liberal Arts. After graduation this past May, Kay will look into graduate school for museum education or archival work.

    Jon Schull, a research scientist in RIT’s MAGIC Center, demonstrates a 3D-printed prosthetic hand and forearm during the Effective Access Technology Conference June 17 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The two-day conference featured speakers, exhibits and poster sessions on ideas and innovative solutions to the challenges in applying technology to improve access for people with a variety of disabilities. Schull created e-NABLE, an online community of 3D printing hobbyists that works to custom design, improve and create affordable prosthetics.

    Will Gunn, the General Counsel for the Department of Veterans Affairs, was one of the keynote speakers at RIT’s Effective Access Technology Conference June 17 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The two-day conference features speakers, exhibits and poster sessions on ideas and innovative solutions to the challenges in applying technology to improve access for people with a variety of disabilities. The conference continues June 18.

    The university held its 16th annual RITirees Picnic in the Gordon Field House on June 11. The picnic honored all RIT retirees and welcomed a new class of retirees from 2014. The 2014 “RITirees Award” honored retired faculty member Eugene Fram, center, from Saunders College of Business. Also honored were James Bingham, right, and Gary Gaspar, both retired staff members from RIT Dining Services.

    Several layers of various materials, including close to 11 miles of lines that contain cooling for ice, were covered by 300 cubic yards of concrete on June 6. The Gene Polisseni Center is taking shape inside and out. The arena will be the home of the men’s and women’s hockey teams and is expected to be open for play this fall.

    Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Wednesday that Datto Inc., launched by RIT graduate Austin McChord, will open this summer on the fourth floor of RIT-owned 40 Franklin St. in downtown Rochester. The company, a leading global vendor of award-winning hybrid cloud-based intelligent business continuity and backup, disaster and recovery solutions, has said it will initially create more than 70 new jobs in exchange for the incentives offered under the START-UP NY economic development program.
