Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Help job seeking students prepare for coop/internship positions and permanent jobs through advice on resume and cover letter writing, interview skill building, and other preparation techniques.
-Teach classes, workshops, and seminars related to job seeking skills development
-Advise Deaf/HH students regarding employment trends, career opportunities, and how to access those opportunities
-Initiate, enhance, and maintain relationships with employers throughout the nation for job development
-Work closely with NTID/RIT faculty and advise them of employment trends and help in developing new curriculum
-Orient employers to NTID and train on working successfully with deaf persons
-Maintain liaisons with appropriate personnel throughout NTID/RIT including the RIT Co-op and Career Services Center
-Contribute to and co-lead department teams, committees, and projects

Department/College Description

NCCC assists deaf and hard-of-hearing students, graduating students and alumni with their job search and works with employers to facilitate hiring of highly qualified co-op students and graduates.

PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary position.

Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree

Experience:
4 plus years in business/industry or educational environment, preferably related to human resources, marketing, or job placement.

Specialized Skills

Required:
-Strong presentation skills, persuasive skills in marketing or sales, counseling skills, group facilitation/training skills.
-Computer literacy skills
-Strong organizational and detail follow-up skills
-Ability to work in a team mode
-Ability to communicate and interact with Business and Industry representatives at various levels

Preferred:
-Knowledge of industry employment needs and processes
-Sign Language Proficiency
-Knowledge of Deaf culture
