ROLE RELATIONSHIPS The Dean of Girls reports to the Chief Engagement and Collaboration Officer (CECO). DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS This position is responsible for activities and programs for residential students. Works to provide a safe, secure and nurturing environment for the students. Supervises all matters pertaining to the residence and related after-school activities including scheduling of Residential Supervisors, transportation, off-campus activities, sports and avocational clubs. Supervises and evaluates Residential Supervisors and assumes responsibility for all staff and residential functions. Conducts meetings with appropriate staff members to explain responsibilities and procedures. Follow-ups and written warnings are under the dean’s responsibility when a residential staff member violates a policy or rule. Develops workshops and training programs for Residential Supervisors relating to the physical, social and mental/emotional welfare of the students. Acts as liaison with other administrators when needed on student behavior, discipline, special needs, accomplishments and parent requests; assists in the implementation of student behavior plans. Participates in all interview processes to fill Residential Supervisor positions. Promotes positive relationship and communication with parents, students and administrators through personal discussions, telephone/text/VP conversations, and letters or written reports Available for student emergencies – on call while students are on campus and for weekend school-related events. Assists in the preparation of the “Code of Conduct”, “Student Handbook”, and “Residential Supervisor Handbook.” Meets with the Administrative Team, school committees and Parent Organization when scheduled. Other duties as assigned by the CECO. QUALIFICATIONS CERTIFICATION(S) REQUIRED (Clearances must be maintained every five years by the employee). Certification of PA Mandated Reporting Training PA State Police Criminal Background Clearance PA Child Abuse History Clearance FBI Clearance Act 82 SPECIALIZED TRAINING, EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE The Dean of Girls should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Education of the Deaf, Social Work, Special Education or related area or have equivalent work and experience. She should have some experience in staff supervision and be able to develop and implement programs for after-school activities. The Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) for this position is “Advanced.” The minimum level accepted at hire is “Intermediate.” Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training is required and must be maintained by the employee CPR Training is required. Valid PA Driver’s License is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position may require the following physical demands: Ability to lift light objects such as reams of paper, stacks or reports, generally objects 15 pounds or less Ability to lift or help lift students in some situations Walking about campus and buildings Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching as necessary to work with students Standing for long periods of time Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time Ability to read and attend to computer screens for long periods of time Ability to drive a car and/or school vehicles Manual dexterity skills for using office equipment Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Deaf Education, Social Work, Special Education or related field.
