Job Description:
VICTIM ADVOCATE (Part time - $25.00 /hour for 20 hours per week – flexible
schedule)

Summary
The Victim Advocate (VA) staff will accompany the sexual and domestic
violence victims/survivors every step of their journey by providing advocacy
services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Late-Deafened and DeafBlind survivors in
Massachusetts statewide.

1.      Provides direct services such as:
•	Medical advocacy – medical care, communication access needs
•	Safety planning
•	Legal advocacy
- Crisis intervention including RO and court appearances
•	Emotional support
-  Work to prevent future violence
2.      Plan self-goals
3.      Finances – bank account, social security, investments, financial
literacy trainings
4.      Information & Referral
•	Referral to third party services as needed i.e. – housing and health
insurance
5.      Implement data collection procedures to document service delivery and
demographic
information about survivors of SV/DV
6.      Providing workshops and community trainings
7.    Networking with sexual/domestic violence agencies/shelters,
community-based agencies and state-wide agencies

Qualifications and other skills:
•	BA in human services or other relevant field of study; OR five years of
experience in direct care, independent living, case management services, or
sexual/domestic violence services
•	Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
•	Detailed oriented
•	Ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities
•	Ability to advocate for victims/survivors
•	Strong Interpersonal skills and genuine interest in improving the quality
of SV/DV services for the Deaf and hard of hearing communities a plus
•	Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect confidential data
•	Travel is required; Must possess a current and valid motor vehicle
driver’s license and have reliable transportation.



Requirements:

•	Required to have Sexual and Domestic Violence training if needed
