Job Description:
Otter Products is currently hiring a Packaging Engineer to join our packaging
team in Fort Collins, CO. 

As a Packaging Engineer, you will work closely with other departments in an
effort to obtain, communicate and act upon the necessary information for the
design and implementation of new packaging. You will also require assisting
in the mechanical design of packaging, testing package systems, pilot plant
and production processes, managing assigned projects and maintaining
up-to-date knowledge of packaging trends. The ideal Otter will have packaging
expertise and an engineering mindset.



Requirements:
Develop and maintain relationships with packaging suppliers to collaborate on
design/development of packaging, ensure packaging consistency on a global
scale, enable design that meets cost targets, insure packaging design
viability, and conduct testing on packaging.

Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing and Product Development
to develop packaging that aligns with the needs of the cross-functional
departments while hitting established cost and quality targets.

Design packaging structures, test package structures to ensure that they hold
up in transit and for the life cycle of the product, and insuring successful
manufacturability of the design.

Responsible for full product life cycle development, and creation of
packaging solutions including conceptual design, process development, process
deployment, process validation, continuous improvement, continuing production
support and supplier development as well as the packaging, shipping and
transportation testing required for electronic enclosure packages.

Develop and manage packaging procedures via creation of design rules and
guidelines that meet the needs of the business to include hitting cost
targets, protecting the product, showcasing the product and correctly
messaging the brand and product offering.

Develop advanced packaging designs from concept to final release including
CAD documentation

Create and maintain component specifications for all primary, secondary and
tertiary packaging and develop, conduct and analyze the testing of this
packaging.

Update product data management system bills of material with necessary
packaging information
