Software Engineer - Summer Intern 2023
PALO ALTO, CA

Woven Planet is building mobility for a safer, happier and sustainable world. A subsidiary of Toyota, Woven Planet innovates and invests in new technologies, software, and business models that transform how we live, work and move. With a focus on automated driving, smart cities, robotics and more, we build on Toyota's legacy of trust and safety to deliver mobility solutions for all.

For nearly a century, Toyota has been delivering products and services that improve lives. Automation that originated to increase the efficiency of daily activities has evolved into the safe, reliable, connected automobiles we enjoy and depend on today. Now, we are looking to the next 100 years and to extending that dream for a better life for all people from cars to smart cities.

Our unique global culture weaves modern Silicon Valley innovation and time-tested Japanese quality craftsmanship. The complementary strengths enable us to optimize safety, advance clean energy and elevate well-being. We envision a human-centered future where world-class technology solutions expand global access to mobility, amplify the capabilities of drivers, and empower humanity to thrive.

What You’ll Do
Are you interested in building products and applications for more than 10 million vehicles a year? Do you like building code at a rapid pace? Woven Planet is seeking Software Engineering Interns that are passionate about building programmable mobility software O/S, the most advanced automated driving architecture/system and mapping applications.

If this sounds exciting to you, join our 12 week Summer Internship Program. Our program allows you to work on real projects around designing safer cars, enabling the elderly to age in place with the help of robots, creating alternative fuel sources, and developing new science to better understand human cognition. Interns will benefit from a supportive, collaborative environment and gain insights from a dedicated mentor who will help ensure a productive and meaningful experience.

About the Team
You will work as a team member on the Software team. This team is developing software tools to enable deployment of software functionality across large fleets of vehicles, testing and quality control of advanced vehicle automation systems, and online integrity and safety monitoring of those systems. We're looking for software engineers who are passionate about improving the lives of millions through deploying robust robotic systems. No prior robotics experience is necessary, although it doesn't hurt.

If you are a creative problem solver and an innovator with a strong desire to apply your technical skills to developments which can improve the quality of human life, this is the internship for you.

What We Give You
Woven Planet internships are structured to ensure you grow both technically and professionally while having some fun. Work on real projects that affect future key results of our mission, while receiving constant feedback, with clear goals. You’re supported by mentors, managers, and the intern programs team throughout your internship. At the end of the internship, you will share the results of your project with the team, and others that may be interested in your work.
