DSHS ALTSA IT App Development - Journey
We’re looking to hire web-based Application Developers for the Aging and Long Term Support Administration (ALTSA). The Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) IT unit provides development and operational support for information systems and applications for ODHH stakeholders, contractors, and staff. This position reports to ODHH IT Manager. This position also works with the department’s IT-centric groups with ALTSA and DSHS and other IT groups indirectly.
This journey level position is responsible for developing and maintaining current and future interactive web-based applications for the ODHH and other projects as needed, that interface with SQL Server databases, application interfaces, and web service endpoints within the DSHS and Aging Long Term Services Administration (ALTSA) and other state agencies.
This position provides administration, consultation, installation, and support for applications primarily related to the ODHH information systems and applications, but may also be utilized for other projects as needed. Join us today on our mission to Transform Lives!
Some of what you’ll do
Develop, manage, and support the programming function, modules of code, and/or .Net classes by using .Net framework.
Test, implement, code, analyze and develop data and business logic layers to interface with the ODHH information systems.
Manage, perform, and execute the quality assurance efforts for complex system development efforts on ODHH applications.
Assist developer(s) with coding, development, and maintenance.
Serve as a journey level developer to determine the latest technology among application development and database such as object-oriented programming and methodology by using .Net, GitHub, Entity Framework, LINQ, MVC, and C#.
Use software diagnostic tools for development and database to identify and either resolve or refer problems.
Develop and analyze data integrity and ensure and manage quality assurance and/or application testing.
Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Work M-F 8-5 with flex time/hybrid telework available at Manager's discretion.
Work evenings and weekends to resolve any information; Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.
Some overnight travel possible.

We’re looking for a professional with
A Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field with an emphasis in software development and system administration support (or equivalent work experience)
Five years of full-time web development experience in each of the following: ASP.NET/C#, HTML5, CSS, and MS SQL.
Development environment - C++, C#, ADO.Net, XML, MVC, ASP.Net, Microsoft .NET framework, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, OO programming, Telerik, Visual Studio
Four or more years of experience building N-tier architecture using Microsoft Visual Studio, C# .NET.
Demonstrate skills in object-oriented design, development, and debugging in at least a few of the following languages and technologies: C#, ASP.NET, MVC, LINQ, Entity Framework, JavaScript, T-SQL, jQuery, WCF, SSIS, or SSRS.
Three or more years of database experience such as analyzing and designing SQL relational databases. Also developing the database, data schema, and reporting solutions by using Microsoft technologies and industry technology such as SQL statement, SQL Server Integration Services, and Microsoft reporting.
ASLPI - (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) ASLPI 2 or higher (passing of basic ASL course and the ability to build upon that over time is fine).
Desired
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or closely related field.
Experience building application using LINQ, Entity Framework, ASP.Net Core MVC, ASP.Net MVC knowledge.
Experience building applications using Rapid Application Development, GitHub, 3rd-party applications and open source, and similar apps.
