Job Description

Summary/Objective

Under direct supervision, provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities in order to facilitate competitive and integrated employment outcomes. Duties include gathering information, entering data, preparing correspondence, maintaining records, and providing accurate information and assistance regarding authorization and invoice of services provided for individuals with disabilities.

GEORGIA VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION AGENCY - GVRA

Provides rehabilitation counseling and guidance to determine eligibility for services and to plan, develop, implement and manage a vocationally focused plan for employment for eligible individuals resulting in successful employment outcomes. Manages cases through the rehabilitation process (referral to case closure). Enters data into the case management system and documents to reflect case activity and services provided. Plans, authorizes and provides services in compliance with established policies and procedures. Provides case management services to ensure correct and timely service provision. Works directly with potentially eligible students, applicants and clients following policies and procedures.

Develops and maintains referral sources
Conducts interviews with VR participants (potentially eligible students, applicants and clients)
Under direct supervision, reviews and interprets education, vocation, psychological and medical information
Travel within caseload assignment area to meet with individuals, providers, partners and other out reach
Under direct supervision, assist in determining eligibility, identifying order of selection, conducting a comprehensive needs assessment and developing an individualized plan for employment, authorizing services
Under direct supervision, counsels and guides participants throughout the rehabilitation process, including establishing employment goal, facilitating job search efforts, maintaining contact with clients, and moving the case to closure
Monitors client movement and ensures timely provision of services
Documents accurately and timely in AWARE (client information system)
Observes rules of confidentiality as stated by departmental guidelines in the dissemination and interpretation of test results and other case file information.
Provides information to educate the public, other agencies, vendors and potential customers about rehabilitation services
Enters accurate participant data in the client information system at the direction of the counselor, as well as captures reporting data
Processes and monitors authorizations and invoices for rehabilitation services in accordance with policies and procedures

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Work is performed in an office environment. Strong computer skills are needed due to ongoing changes to applications that affect the way the work is performed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may occasionally require long hours and weekend work.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling, social work, or a closely related behavioral or social science field from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND One year of related work experience OR Four years of directly related experience. Note:
Some positions may require specialized certification, Counselor 1 does not require certification.

Preferred Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Education, Special Education, etc.) AND 2 years of relevant experience OR
• Master’s Degree in a related field (Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Education, Special Education, etc.) OR
• CRC Credential in good standing
• One year of experience working with individuals with significant disabilities.
