*Job Summary for Summer 2024 *

The Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact, and Business Councils team, located
at Marriott’s corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, builds brand
preference and loyalty, protects and enhances company reputation, and drives
positive outcomes by building relationships and managing programs with
external stakeholders and the community in three areas:

  * Multicultural Affairs – The Multicultural Affairs team is responsible
    for the implementation of Marriott’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
    (DEI) strategy externally, focusing on business relationships and
    customers and building an externally-focused strategy that continues to
    generate brand preference and loyalty.
  * Social Impact* *– The Social Impact team is responsible for the
    implementation of Marriott’s social impact strategy, focusing on social
    responsibility, volunteerism, human rights, external stakeholder
    engagement, reporting and transparency, and a portfolio of nonprofit
    partnerships and programs that aim to connect our business with
    communities and drive positive social outcomes and business value.
  * Business Councils* *– The Business Councils team is responsible for the
    development of strategy and support for Marriott’s nearly 200 Business
    Councils, Junior Business Councils and Sub Councils. These groups engage
    General Managers and other associates across all brands and business
    functions in a market to work on shared business challenges, culture,
    sustainability and social impact initiatives, and government affairs
    opportunities.


*Expected Contributions *

The full-time summer in-person paid internship position will be responsible
for providing general support to the Multicultural Affairs, Social Impact,
Business Councils, and Archives team and will be assigned one or more
short-term projects throughout the duration of the internship. Examples of
potential projects include:

  * Proactively search for social impact and sustainability stories to include
    in Headline News.
  * Create one-pagers for multicultural affairs and social impact nonprofit
    partners.
  * Provide on-site support to Headquarters and other local volunteer
    activations.
  * Review and provide feedback on team documents, such as MGS resources and
    award applications.
  * Research and provide insights on competitor programs and industry best
    practices.
  * Set up Meet and Greets with internal stakeholders across disciplines to
    build knowledge and network.
  * Participate in all fellowship events, including executive speaker series,
    hotel tour, and the Business Challenge.

  * Anticipated start date: June 5th; end date: August 11th

Successful candidates should have interest in the travel and tourism
industry, community-oriented efforts and volunteerism, environmental, social,
and governance (ESG), diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), or human rights
and human trafficking, and demonstrate strong general skills, including:

  * Communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation
  * Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects or assignments
  * Ability to deliver strong work products that exhibit attention to detail
  * Interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a team
    environment
  * Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and creatively
    solve problems


Must be able to commute to Bethesda and live in the vicinity during the
summer.
