Job title and work responsibilities
My job title is Packaging Development Consultant, and I provide technical support to package development managers for products such as Red Door, Paul Sebastian, Britney Spears fragrances and others. Reviewing and creating component parts for the product packaging is part of my job, as well as initiating and managing related art work components through pre-press proof approval. I also am responsible for executing appropriate packaging testing for shipping, compatibility and chemical resistance.
How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID
In this field, typical responsibilities involve developing packaging systems for a variety of products. The ability to work with other engineers in a team environment is very important. My course work at RIT equipped me with the knowledge to be a productive and successful employee for any company that manufactures consumer goods. I took an advanced computer application course using ArtiosCAD software that allows you to rebuild cartons from existing models. My experience in designing, optimum sizing, prototyping, simulation and specification preparation for packaging design has given me the tools required to be a successful member of this work environment.
