Work Responsibilities
I worked in corporate accounting and procurement with the Global Supply Network Division and was very involved with direct material cost reporting (DMCR). I pulled cost data for invoices, and consolidated the data into an Excel template to support upcoming facility cost reconciliations. I also created a pre- and post-closing checklist for DMCR Day 5. I attended DCMR open forums, DCMR trainings and adjustor trainings, Access Audit, reconciliation process and pre-edit data flow meetings, team meetings and events for interns.
How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID
RIT courses helped me develop my skills in Microsoft Office, Excel and other software related to my choice of major. I also gained business knowledge and skills in business communication and I’m sure this degree will guide me in the future. Getting this education has been a great opportunity.
Advice
Most supervisors and managers are looking for these skills: excellence, commitment and teamwork. Get involved in the community and take advantage of as many opportunities as you can. And learn by asking as many questions as you can.
